“When I was getting ready for bed one night . . . a light dropped down on the floor before me. . . . It was the same year . . . that the Lord brought the glad news of salvation to Joseph Smith. . . . I prayed so loud that my husband was afraid [the neighbors] would all hear me.”
Sarah Studevant Leavitt's account is only one of twenty-five personal stories from Mormon women who valiantly served the Lord during the early days of the Restoration through the turn of the century. These remarkable women--many first-generation Mormons--often left behind traditions and family to anchor themselves to the Church. Through personal records, detailed letters, and thoughtful journals, come these women's voices, shouting out strong testimonies that still ring true today.
