What We Believe is a story about inclusiveness, harmony and similarities. It recognizes that there are common beliefs in all religions and that no matter what religion you practice or don't practice, it is all about being good citizens of the world. The story was inspired by the author's personal experience of growing up in a Catholic family and marrying a Muslim man. Her goal in writing the book is to reassure readers that a dual-religion household-or even one where no religion is taught-does not produce children lacking in morals and beliefs.
