In this memoir, Veronica Orsborn travels back in time to her early memories of life in the 1940s, and takes us through the many social changes over the years of her remarkable life. The details of her childhood are shocking at times, and as she grows up and marries, becoming Veronica Barnes and later still Veronica McBean, she portrays a picture of life in London, Reading and eventually Lincolnshire that is filled with fascinating detail.
Her writing reveals an indominable spirit, and a determination to overcome every hardship. It is a story of loss, but also one of kindness, love, and perseverance. Along the way her family and friends are brought to life, and we travel with them into every new experience.
The trilogy is a wonderful snapshot of changes in healthcare, changes in lifestyle and changes in living standards.
This is living history told from personal experience, accompanied by photos from the family album.
