"IT'S LIKE A MOSAIC PAINTING COMING TO LIFE . . . "
This is the first thought Todd Morgan has as his wife is swallowed by the glowing, purple wall behind her moments after giving birth to their daughter.
Todd has temporarily forgotten what tonight is: New Year's Eve, 2089. The night of the first Great Suicide-an event in which billions end their lives to escape the hostile living conditions on Earth.
He doesn't know that this sudden influx of death has led to a rip in the fabric of reality, opening a portal that has connected the room he stands in with the realm of the afterlife . . .
Or that the Gridliners-an AI species whose souls have been trapped in the swirling, purple sky of this realm-finally have a chance to escape it. But he finds all of this out the moment he meets the Gridliner Alessa, who changes the world as he knows it . . .
Through the Mosaic tells the story of humans and Gridliners trying to endure amidst impossible circumstances as they begin to understand that their only chance at survival is by helping each other-no matter the cost.
