"Through Her Eyes" is a coming-of-age memoir told through the eyes of Susie Arlington-a bold, curious, and emotionally perceptive girl navigating life from kindergarten to senior year.
From barefoot mornings in rural Anthony, Florida, to high school hallways echoing with uncertainty, Susie's journey is one of resilience, imagination, and quiet strength. As a tall five-year-old who runs faster than most boys and climbs higher than anyone else, Susie embraces life with wide eyes and a wide-open heart. But childhood isn't all sunshine and tree branches-there are scraped knees, shifting family dynamics, and the kind of changes that can't be undone.
After a sudden move to Ocala and the arrival of a new stepfather and stepbrother, Susie builds new worlds in the backyard while navigating unspoken tensions at the dinner table. Through play, pain, laughter, and loss-including the disappearance of her beloved dog-she learns to adapt to the things she can't control. As friendships form and fade, and confidence is tested by bullying and self-doubt, Susie keeps reaching for the light, even when it's hard to see.
Heartfelt, nostalgic, and deeply human, Through Her Eyes captures the messy beauty of growing up-a story for anyone who remembers what it felt like to straddle the line between childhood and everything that comes next.
