Six elderly friends. Secrets they've never shared with anyone, until a chance encounter connects them with Alice Johnson. She's the young student who sets up a creative writing club in which they can lay these secrets bare.
Alice wants all the stories to have a fantastical element, but she gets more than she bargained for at the 'grand reveal'.
Time travel...
Magical food...
Tiny garden residents...
Unexpected helpers...
Ghosts from the past...
As the stories are read in turn, they create an evening full of mixed emotions, and Alice realises just how much she can learn from her elderly authors about life, love, friendship and, ultimately, death, but the biggest secret of all is waiting for her as she travels home after their evening together has ended...
This diverse and fantastical set of 'short-stories-within-a-story' explores the power of love and friendship as it is challenged by location, the passing of time and events which ask every one of the main characters - and readers too - to suspend their usual beliefs about reality.
