Coles The Springer Spaniel - A Complete Anthology of Breed at Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon, BC
*Product information may vary - to confirm product availability, pricing, shipping and return information please contact Coles
The dog that springs the game: Britain's foremost flushing spaniel, in the writing of its own period. The Springer Spaniel - A Complete Anthology of the Breed gathers the early writing on the breed from the rare kennel books in our library. The name describes the job - springing game for the hawk, the net and later the gun - and the working shape of the dog follows from it. The Kennel Club separated the springer from the cocker in 1902, though the strains behind it run back much further, and every writer here is describing a shooting dog. Points, coat, temperament, field ability, celebrated dogs and their pedigrees are all set out, with the original photographs reproduced throughout. This edition features:
The early breed literature, gathered from rare and out-of-print kennel books
The spaniel as a working flushing dog, described by the authorities of their day
Points, coat and field ability, with the pedigrees of celebrated winners
The original photographs of the leading dogs of the era, reproduced throughout
