Available again after several months absence!
When it comes to suspension systems and handling, there’s plenty of advice available but, unfortunately, much of it is bad, incomprehensible or outdated. This book explains how you can adjust and modify your car’s suspension, steering and brakes to make it handle and brake well.
Author Des Hammill is an engineer with much practical experience of solving fast road car and racing car suspension problems. This book is a distillation of his accumulated knowledge, which he passes on to the reader in a jargon-free and understandable manner and with the aid of clear, custom-drawn diagrams.
Although much of the advice in this book is applicable to any type of suspension system, it is aimed at improving the handling of two-seater sports cars and kit cars. Specifically, the book deals with suspension systems comprising wishbones/A-arms at the front and wishbones/A-arms/trailing arms (independent or live axle) at the rear, coil springs and telescopic shock absorbers.
“Written in a clear and understandable style, this handbook is
ideal for the home mechanic, cutting through the mystique and
confusion surrounding suspension and handling problems.” – Startline
“The advice given is sound ... and there are useful diagrams explaining
many of the principles discussed” – Classics
