In Bradley Samore's The Sky is Always Finishing , life, in its miraculous and continuous loop of existence, takes center stage. While death and the ensuing grief are ever present, the unfolding of the living is what Samore thoughtfully and animatedly captures in these poems.
In "Edelweiss" and "Turning," bedtime routines are gateways to a love nurtured in the small moments, even when the sacrifices are not fully understood or expressed. In "Peony Bush and Boy," life's conversation enfolds the human and non-human, interconnected yet in opposition — "Will he cut one of me / to fade / far from my family," inquires the peony bush, about the boy who's busy with his own inquiries directed at his mother.
Bradley Samore's poems in this collection traverse moments, generations, media, locations, and languages, inviting the reader to a rich tapestry of life. Throughout these pages, a simple truth remains insistent: Endings may be ubiquitous, but life is more enduring and sustaining.
