Coles The Singing Garden: A Study of the Book of Psalms at Village Green Shopping Centre in Vernon, BC
*Product information may vary - to confirm product availability, pricing, shipping and return information please contact Coles
Over the centuries Psalms has spoken to more believers than any other book in the Bible. It has been a source of prayer, worship, music, and inspiration. The psalms express our deepest pain and our highest hopes, which is why the fourth century theologian Athanasius said, “The Book of Psalms is like a garden containing things of all these kinds, and sets them to music.” This seven-part topical study explores how the Book of Psalms expresses our fears and struggles and offers us the incredible promises of God: * wisdom songs; * personal songs of trust; * personal prayers for help; * hymns of creation and history; * royal and prophetic hymns; * communal prayers for help, and * communal songs of praise. This study also includes background information on the Hebrew poetry and history, a topical chart of psalms, and a special appendix on how to pray with the psalms. The North Church study guides are ideal for both individual and small-group use, and as companion guides to sermon series. Each study guide includes background information and questions for personal reflection and small-group discussions. And all of the studies have been “road tested” with a real congregation — North United Methodist Church in Indianapolis, Indiana.
