How far would you go for a second chance? For Sarah Miller, the answer is enrolling in college at forty-two right alongside her son. Their pact: she gets to relive her youth, and he gets to be her protective older brother. It's the perfect lie, a way to reinvent herself and escape the quiet desperation of her life. But as Sarah falls into her new role—acing classes, landing a lead in the play, and even falling for a handsome classmate—the lie becomes more real than the truth. And when the past comes knocking, Sarah and Liam discover that some secrets can't be kept, and some performances can't end. They're in this together, but for the first time, they're not sure if their shared story is a masterpiece or a tragedy.
