The Buenos Aires winter rain embraced her like a farewell. Alma realized she had nothing left in this city, in her country. Clinging to the soaked cardboard box, she refused to shed tears over the devastation his own father inflicted on her. The box contained the little she had rescued from her desk: some belongings and a plane ticket to Barcelona. That was all she had left.
