Chris lost his wife, his home, and most of his mind. Writing kept him alive.
Then he pulled a puppet from the sea. Carved with symbols he couldn't read. It felt wrong in his hands—but he kept it anyway.
The puppet moved when he wasn't looking. It sat like him. It stood like him. Then it started whispering his name.
He threw it away three times.
It came back every night.
Now Chris is learning the truth: some things don't want to haunt you. They want to replace you.
