Some pasts never stay buried.
Retired homicide detective Michael Tough thought he had finally escaped the darkness of his former life in law enforcement. Alongside his wife Becky a survivor of addiction and exploitation he now helps rebuild shattered lives through Victory Nation, a church dedicated to rescuing the broken and forgotten.
But peace never lasts long.
When notorious trafficker Tyrone Allen is released from prison after fourteen years, fear spreads quickly through the community he once terrorized. Pastor Denise Ross, the courageous woman whose testimony helped put Tyrone behind bars, becomes the target of old threats and unfinished vengeance.
As frightened young women begin disappearing and whispers of a deadly new drug called Pharma Angel surface across San Diego's underworld, Michael is pulled back into an investigation far more dangerous than anything he faced as a detective.
Then Tyrone is found murdered.
And Pastor Denise becomes the prime suspect.
Now Michael must navigate a world of trafficking rings, corruption, trauma, faith, and revenge to uncover the truth before another life is destroyed. But in a city haunted by violence and secrets, redemption may come at the ultimate price.
The Public Good is a gripping faith-driven crime thriller about survival, justice, and the power of hope in places where darkness seems impossible to overcome.
