A wounded woman arrives at Vale House before dawn with blood on her clothes, no shoes, no memory she can fully trust—and a promise card in her hand.
If anything happens to me, trust Evelyn Vale.
Six months after turning the old Vale estate into the Mara Ellison Legal Aid & Memory Justice Foundation, Evelyn Hart is trying to build a refuge from the secrets that nearly destroyed her. But when Lena Ashford appears at the gate, accused of violence and tied to a powerful medical family with connections to the old Vale network, Evelyn is pulled into a new case where love, memory, and truth have all been dangerously rewritten.
Lena believes her fiancé, Julian Crewe, may be dead. The evidence says she may have feared him. The police suspect she may know more than she remembers. And someone is using Evelyn's name to open doors that should have stayed locked.
To uncover the truth, Evelyn must work again with Adrian Vale—the man she once loved, feared, and still cannot fully trust. As the investigation reaches hidden rooms, missing evidence, false memories, and a foundation built on buried secrets, Evelyn must decide which promises are protection, which are traps, and which truths are worth risking everything to expose.
The Promise She Shouldn't Trust is a clean romantic psychological thriller about dangerous secrets, false memories, emotional suspense, and the price of trusting the wrong promise.
