The Parkinality Poet is Julie Walker, diagnosed in 2012 the age of 44 with Young Onset Parkinson's Disease (YOPD), she tries to remain positive, concentrating on what she can do rather than dwelling on what she cannot. In 2017 Parkinality was born; a blend word which Julie created; Parkin(son's) (person) ality. Through her website, blog, poems, fundraising and articles she aims to raise awareness and understanding of YOPD with the ultimate aim to speed a cure; www.parkinality.co.uk. In her first book The Parkinality Poetry Book , she has written over fifty original poems about fictional personalities. The message about Parkinson's is subtle with only a handful of the characters effected by Parkinson's Disease. Characters include Ralph and his clipboard, Nora with her knitted animals and Tamara and her botox. Some poems are silly, some funny, some sad, some confusing. They will all make you stop and think. Some might educate you and she hopes all will entertain. They simply tell a story and tell a story simply, no technical words or backwards writing to decipher. Julie is now eating both her hat and her words, she always said no ebooks, but in May 2020, due to demand, has now added that to the paperback edition already available. So Julie asks that you pour yourself a lemon squash sit in a comfy chair and enjoy this book.
