In a city built to prevent bloodlines from ruling the fate of its people, Names have begun to disappear from decrees, offices, and public decisions. The intention was simple: to stop guilt, hatred, and power from passing from one generation to the next. But when a custodian is found dead and the grain stores remain sealed, anonymity no longer feels like protection.
The Nameless Heir arrives in a community where no one seems to speak for themselves, yet everyone obeys the same voice: the city . As they try to uncover who truly decides behind the seals and hidden records, they are forced to confront a paradox that reaches them personally: their own lack of a Name is beginning to be used as a symbol of impartiality and authority.
Among mutilated documents, overlooked witnesses, concealed identities, and truths preserved in contradictory versions, a phrase attributed to the Heir begins to transform into something they never said—and something future generations may one day use to justify an entirely new form of power.
The One Who Inherited the Absences — Interlude II of Astræion takes place between Volumes IV and V, exploring memory, identity, authority, and the dangerous distance between what someone once said and what the world chooses to remember.
