Huey, a young eagle in the Gulf of Alaska, has an accident that injures his foot. On the small island near Kodiak, a man named Dave comes to his rescue. He protects Huey from the animals that see the helpless, injured eagle as prey. He leaves food for Huey in his yard. Gradually, the young eagle begins to heal and to realize that this man is his friend. When he next returns to visit Dave, he brings a female eagle with him. She learns of the kindness of Dave, his family, and his pets first hand.
