This book is a hands-on instructional guide on how to upgrade a law enforcement agency to a true profession. It begins with identifying the mechanical structures of a profession and how these should be applied to a law enforcement agency. It then moves into the virtue elements of a true profession and how to instill these into officers. The book concludes by viewing a number of worldviews to determine which worldviews contribute positively to the law enforcement profession. The final chapters give suggestions on how these should be implemented in a department and then in a community. Michael Lindsay began his law enforcement career in 1971 as an MP during the Vietnam era. After his military obligation, Mike worked as a deputy marshal in Westville, Indiana and as a park policeman in La Porte while completing his degrees. He married his sweetheart, Denise, in 1980. Mike was later offered the marshal position in Westville where he served for nearly seven years. He then took employment as a staff instructor at the Indiana Law Enforcement Academy (ILEA) in 1986. In 2003, he took employment transporting prisoners for the US Marshal Service across the western United States and to El Salvador, Guatemala, and Honduras. In 2006, Mike was called back to the ILEA as Deputy Director for the Indiana Law Enforcement Training Board and academy. He retired in October of 2017. After retirement, Mike discovered Bible prophecy and has been amazed by it ever since.
