A new born baby with no mother or father claiming her, was given to a couple in a farming community in Cedar Grove, Missouri. They named her Elizabeth Ann Morgan, she was their pride and joy. They registered her name in the church bible, and in time, the one room school. She was a beautiful toddler, curly brown hair and blue eyes. Her parents had dark hair and brown eyes, but the small community of people noticed, but said nothing about it, if she was adopted? When Elizabeth started school she advanced quickly in reading and writing. She loved everything about school. Miss Jeeters became a friend, they spent after school time together, and she was hoping that Elizabeth would go to school past the eighth grade. There was no transportation to take the students to the country schools. Allen Morgan, her pa, was a dreamer, he had trouble keeping the farm going. He would spend hours thinking about the gold mining towns. He wanted to join the wagon train going to Colorado in May 1894, Elizabeth would be turning 14 in the summer.
