The Hughs are a new category of Scottish hills. All under 2,000ft, they are hills with attitude, not altitude. So what exactly is 'attitude'? The three key words are: prominence · position · panorama.
Island hills possess a charm and romanticism which is hard to resist and sets them apart from their mainland cousins. The combination and juxtaposition of mountain, sea and sky so notably manifest on islands such as Arran, Jura, Mull, Rum and Skye, can be as addictive and headily intoxicating as any malt whisky, capturing and enrapturing, often for life.
MUNRO at least 3,000ft high
CORBETT 2,500–3,000ft high with a prominence of at least 500ft
GRAHAM 2,000–2,499ft high with a drop of at least 150 metres
HUGH (Hill Under Graham Height): under 2,000ft with exceptional character
The Hughs offer breathtaking climbs and views, with some already popular and others waiting to be discovered. Each hill has unique character. This diverse range of hills invites all ages to explore, chosen for their charm rather than mere height.
