Blasco wrote Spanish realist novels and was also a director and screenwriter. He is best known for his novel The Four Horsemen of the Apocalypse ((Los Cuatro Jinettes del Apocalipsis). Set in Europe during World War I a young South American artist in search of himself is living in Paris. He becomes involved in the fight to defeat the Germans. The descriptions of the various locals are excellent.
