A man becomes separated from his guide while exploring the vast and labyrinthine Mammoth Cave, plunging into absolute darkness and despair. As his mind begins to fracture from isolation, he hears the approach of a creature that does not sound entirely human. The story builds tension through sensory deprivation and the primal fear of the unknown dark. It culminates in a shocking revelation about the effects of long-term isolation on the human form.
