The Art of Food and Feminism A reminder that just because you can cook doesn't mean that you belong in the kitchen. Under our current political climate we, like many others, felt an obligation to effect change and to stand up for our rights and the rights of others. Gretchen Ehrhart As a recent graduate of the University of Illinois at Chicago, receiving her Bachelors of Design, Colleen Ehrhart's skills are rooted in the Swiss Design practice. Life after college has meant learning to cook for herself which is a welcomed challenge. Living with her sister presented her with the opportunity to brainstorm creative ways to shed light on some of their personal inspirations. Colleen designed and co-wrote The Art of Food and Feminism with her sister to show that being a feminist doesn't mean you shouldn't cook and in fact, cooking can be an act of feminism in its own right. Gretchen Ehrhart is a social worker with an undergraduate degree in Fine Arts and is currently working on her MSW. In recent years she has taken on cooking as a hobby which has served as a form of meditation and a way to unwind after a long day at work. Gretchen feels strongly that everyone should learn how to cook for themselves in order to be mindful of what they are consuming. Cooking is just another form of art that can only be mastered with practice and patience. While reading each recipe you are given the chance to reflect on the effect each woman has had on the world and decide how you will leave your mark. | The Art of Food and Feminism by Gretchen Ehrhart, Paperback | Indigo Chapters
