Struggle Within is a deeply personal memoir that explores the complexities of identity, family, love, and resilience in the face of life’s most difficult truths. At its heart, it’s a story about self-discovery and healing unraveling the layers of generational trauma, deception, and the pursuit of belonging. From an early age, author Ky Marie was led to believe one truth about her father, only to have her reality shattered at the age of fourteen when she discovered he wasn’t her biological parent. This revelation set off a journey of confusion, anger, and a relentless search for the truth. The relationship with her mother, once a pillar of strength, became strained as lies unfolded, leaving questions that took decades to answer. Ultimately, Struggle Within is more than a memoir. It's an invitation for readers to reflect on their own journeys, to embrace vulnerability, and to find strength in their own stories. It’s a testament to the power of truth, self-love, and the courage to rewrite one’s narrative. About the Author Ky Marie was born in Sacramento, California, and began life with an international journey. Conceived in Georgia, her mother was stationed in Germany four months into the pregnancy. Ky was born in California, then returned to Germany where the story begins; for the first two years of her life a path shaped early by resilience and adaptability. Growing up, she spent much of her time in her own head, adjusting herself to avoid disapproval, sensing energy that made her feel undeserving or out of place. Over time, she became a chameleon, molding herself to every room until she began to self-destruct. Through healing, she now sees the old version of herself as unrecognizable. No one can define her by the past she is forever evolving. Kyisha works as an early intervention specialist for infants and toddlers with developmental delays and autism. She hopes her story reminds others they are not alone and that it’s never too late to reclaim your story.
