"My New Friend" Taylor, recently relocated to Virginia from New York, finds herself out of her comfort zone in a quieter, slower-paced environment. At her new job, she forms a bond with Marie, her poised and charismatic supervisor, who is also the only other Black woman in the office. Their friendship grows as they share their different backgrounds, fashion tastes, and personal stories, making Taylor feel accepted and valued in her new world. However, their relationship takes a dark turn when Marie reveals a side of herself that shocks Taylor. A night out at a club leads to Marie rekindling a physical relationship with her ex-girlfriend, Kristin, with Taylor witnessing the affair firsthand.
