Second Thoughts is a collection of (hopefully) humorous personal essays about a life steeped in bad taste, bad luck, and bad judgement—all told in Lee B. Weaver’s uniquely pedantic and overwrought style. Originally published during Weaver’s time as a newspaper columnist, the stories have been lovingly reworked so that regular people—the kind of people with no clear recollection of what a newspaper (or columnist) once was—might actually find them interesting. In other words, these stories contain casual slang, gratuitous profanity, and more Oxford commas than you can shake a stick at. You’re in for a real treat. Seriously, buying this book will be smartest thing you’ve done in a long time. So go ahead. Buy it. Don’t be stupid.
