This small volume holds a great treasure by shining forth the faith of Joseph in its multi-faceted, wondrous effects. While focusing on Joseph as an ordinary man, a tradesman, father, and husband, Margarita Saldaña Mostajo points to his interaction with the divine life, dreaming and acting from his extraordinary inner conviction of God’s reality. This miraculous element in Joseph’s living is what the book unfolds as placing him in the lineage of faith from his patriarch namesake and with all who seek God’s will intuitively as with the eyes of the heart. Here the reader is invited to participate in a life “without a table of contents,” guided by a trusting reliance on how God is accomplishing the saving purposes of faith and justice for weak and poor persons. With the inner eyes closed to needing reason as ultimate guide, they open to the security of God’s presence in history, personal and global. Joseph is an example and teacher in Saldaña Mostajo’s presentation of his notably hidden life.
