Sainsbury ... Pedantic, punctilious, he was always as skinny as an oerlikon, but there was a sort of quite explosiveness about him, as though a thin steel spring of high tensile strength was ready to unleash. But although he had the reputation of being a stickler for regulations, when the occasion demanded it Bruce Sainsbury could quickly throw the book overboard—and did.
Follow the career of a West Australian member of the RAN from his training in the 1930s until the opening of the Second World War and his subsequent service initially in Royal Navy ships before returning to the Royal Australian Navy.
