Russell and his family live under tight armed security in a hidden valley, controlled by their wealthy father who is determined to keep them from the world outside. Although over-indulged, Russell's life of ease is a form of imprisonment. Unlike his siblings, Russell questions the reality of his home, longing for freedom and fulfilment. So when an unexpected source offers him the chance to escape, Russell must choose between luxury and seclusion or freedom and reality. With only limited knowledge of what lies beyond the valley, Russell makes his choice. Russell is an adventurous tale of beauty, wealth and corruption on a grand scale.
"Russell's struggles to free himself from the inertia of 'too much' are a testament to the transformative power of imagination and will. We are driven to follow his flight by Albert Gormley's variation on rhythm patterns and his use of rhyme forms we thought we'd forgotten." - Catherine Doherty
"A wonderful, multi-layered story. Hugely impressive." - Alastair McCallum
