The words, 'The world is your oyster, ' come from a phrase that first appeared in Shakespeare's play 'The Merry Wives of Windsor', which was published in 1602. In Act II of this play, a character named Falstaff says, "I will not lend thee a penny," to which his counterpart in the scene, Pistol, replies, "Why, then, the world's mine oyster, which I with sword will open." And the point of all of this now (at least in this book) is that you don't need a sword to open your oyster. All you need to do is believe in yourself and work hard and know in your heart that anything and everything is possible! And this is because the world really, truly is your oyster!
Think about this and about making all your dreams come true, as you travel through the pages of this fun, 'learn to read' book written and illustrated by the award winning author, attorney and former teacher, Penelope Dyan, that is filled with word recognition, word repetition and rhyme, all to help a kid have fun as he or she builds his or her reading word vocabulary and improves his or her reading skills.
And don't forget to watch the free, fun music video that goes with this book on Bellissimavideo's YouTube channel; and you can have even more learning fun!
