‘There is one grade greater than what you have achieved here, Yerfend. That is what you must now seek, my beloved niece, sweet Sivtara, by your side some of the way. You will need first enter the Temple here and look at the stars some night. You will know when you have been blessed with holy rites, how weak the concept of estimation is: wasting today on tomorrow, as you will come to see, when you find yourself in the present, the sun shining and with the breeze so cool on your brow. Then you must allow the purple beetles lead you on the road to the oracle, who will tell you what you need to know. After that, you are on your own, my sweet human man, not even her fairy magic to protect you then, you in the land of the hobgoblins then, and subject to their rules of hospitality.’
