Every teacher knows that being an educator involves much more than just standing at the front of a classroom. Dale McIsaac, a long-time teacher and principal, learned this lesson from the very first day of his practicum. "Other Duties as Required: Stories from My Teaching Career" is a collection of some of the most memorable stories spanning McIsaac's 40-year career, starting with his early days teaching in Miramichi, New Brunswick, to returning to Prince Edward Island for a long career in teaching and administration. With the same dry wit as Stuart MacLean, McIsaac recalls coaching basketball, hijinks in the break room, the pranks played with his colleagues, and heart-warming homages to important people he worked with along the way. This collection of humorous and heartwarming stories show the true nature of the day-to-day work life of so many hard workers in education, from custodians to administrators.
