In every 100 children, one is medically complex. Safehaven is committed to telling the stories of the 1%. To help tell those stories, we worked with an illustrator to create a new storybook. This book visually demonstrates the 1% of children who face medical complexities. This unique book takes readers on a visual adventure through iconic Toronto landmarks and streetscapes filled with people, challenging readers to find the one medically complex child within the crowd, depicted in a wheelchair or standing chair or using an assistive breathing device. The imagery is intended to demonstrate that medically complex children are important parts of our local communities but often go unnoticed or forgotten. Proceeds from the sales of the 1 in 100 will go towards supporting the exceptional care Safehaven provides for the exceptional lives of the children in our care.
