This practical and inviting book shows how the Lord’s Prayer can be a powerful spiritual guide for daily living.
Drawing from her own life as a respected theologian, wife and mother, On Earth as it is in Heaven is full of personal reflections, spiritual meditations and insightful anecdotes. Each section analyzes one line of the Lord’s Prayer, followed by reflection questions and a short prayer. The result is a rich resource that nourishes the personal prayer life of adult Christians.
This jewel of a book, which has been revised and updated for the Jubilee Year of 2025, reveals God’s relationship to us as being filled with intimacy and trust. Lombardi promotes the Lord’s Prayer as a source of restoration and hope for families and society alike.
“We are grateful to Josephine Lombardi, who accompanies the reader by commenting on the individual petitions of the Lord’s Prayer, helping the reader to discover their innermost meanings. In this way, the commentary allows the prayer to delicately enter the folds of the human soul and its wounds. I am sure that meditating on these pages will allow us to deepen the meaning of the Our Father for Christian life, helping to ‘fan the flame of hope,’ as Pope Francis has exhorted the Church to do on the occasion of the Jubilee of 2025.”
—Archbishop Salvatore Rino Fisichella, Pro-Prefect of the Dicastery for Evangelization, from the Foreword
