Charlotte's life from a small child into teenage years as a child with polio. She was selected as an Ambassador for Polio and visited two submarines. She received a check for $5,000 for The March of Dines at the USS Brill. The crew had saved all their party money as this was to be their last voyage. The Brill was to be transferred to the Turkish Army. The crew wanted to give their last party fund to the March Of Dimes to help children with polio. The following day she visited another ship the USS General Omar Bundy the crew gave her a beautiful doll and a picture of their ship in a life preserver. In the Children's Hospital in San Francisco John Wayne came to visit the polio ward and she was fortunate to have her picture taken with John Wayne. There are many wonderful photos of Charlotte with the ship mates in her book.
