Tension lay heavy in the air between Samuel and his twenty-year-old son. In 1938 Pocahontas, Arkansas, life for the Womack men-widower Sam, restless David, and older brother Benjamin-meant hard work on the farm, a family effort for generations.
Discontent and dreaming of wealth, David convinces his father to hand over his $6,000 inheritance early . . . and then cut all ties with the family. But bad decisions, irresponsibility, and hard living lead the young man to squander it all. What comes next when he hits rock bottom?
With a unique spin on the parable of the prodigal son, Never Far from Home tells the story of a loving father letting his sons grow up. Their choices may hurt, but he'll never stop loving them.
