Siqualla is a village held back by an archaic culture. Here, a 14-year old bride, already six months in to her marriage, is late to announce her pregnancy. A malicious rumour of infertility spreads, with implications of a certain divorce. Almaz is about to lose her only joy - her marriage.
In this story of loss and triumph, a child bride is empowered by love, courage and hope as her young groom stands up for his wife against an enduring culture, rife with practices that create and sustain inequality between women and men.
