Celebrity journalist Meredith Ogden is in Houston, investigating a multi-million dollar movie project spiraling out of control for reasons no one will talk about when she learns that her closest friend at home in L.A, Gloria Masner, has been accused of murder. The victim was Gloria's long-time husband, music mogul, George Masner who recently died after five years suffering with Parkinson's Disease. The accuser is George's stepdaughter from a marriage now fifty years in the past. The child he had not seen since that time.
Gloria's entourage, including Meredith and TV producer Cassie O'Connell, gear up to find out more about Loralyn Marshall, woman who implicates their friend and colleague. And why she has blasted into Gloria's already grief-stricken world. They find themselves in the midst of the music business from Los Angeles to New York but centered in the middle of the country in the family entertainment hub of Branson, Missouri. While attorney Anita Doster meets and negotiates with Loralyn's representative, Meredith and Cassie work behind the scenes in the music world to find the elusive Loralyn and why she's preying upon Gloria. In the process, the two also become the targets of the scheme, stalked, abducted, dodging-and catching- gun fire.
"It's all about money," Meredith's detective-turned attorney/investigator husband T.K. Raymond reminds them. In this case, the wealth George has left to Gloria and his business partner music producer Jimmy Bell. "Loralyn was promised it as a child," her attorneys insist.
Another Hollywood mystery unfolding as Meredith, the intrepid reporter, plies her skill, talent and canniness to expose the truth behind the many story webs that keep the entertainment industry vivid in the imaginations of the world.
