When Susann asked me to come along on this three-day sailing trip to Long Island Sound with her and Candra, I liked the idea so much I quickly said sure. But now I am simply relieved that all the lying, all the pretending, has finally come to an end.
From the get-go I’ve seen how Susann was strong-willed, independent, and somewhat temperamental; at times, more than just a little. And I should’ve known from the get-go that her bad temper would lead to trouble. But I didn’t want to spoil this trip so I went along.
And here I am back at the start. Once this mess is all cleared up I will again be looking for a college roommate when I go back to Manhattan. But I don’t mind. I can hold my own in Manhattan.
