A story about environmental choices where the reader gets to make the choice.
“Milo is irresistible.” –School Library Journal
On a small island in the middle of the sea, a mouse named Milo makes an extraordinary discovery: a magical stone that gives both light and warmth.
How will this discovery change the lives of Milo and the other mice? Will it bring delight or environmental disaster? The reader must decide. Halfway through the story, the book splits into two sections, each offering a different ending.
This unique format actively involves children in the decision- making process, showing them not only the effect today’s environmental choices can have on the future of our planet, but also the consequences inherent in all decisions. NorthSouth is proud to bring back this classic allegory for our time. This cautionary tale of the consequences of greed, envy, and environmental pillaging brings Pfister’s message—about making wise ecological choices—home to children of all ages.
