With this handbook we offer you a historical and conceptual map of the labors of memory in Latin America and the Caribbean from the mid-1970s to the present from a multidisciplinary perspective. The first part offers an overview of the constitutive violences that have triggered memory initiatives across the region. The second part discusses the key debates in the field of Latin American and Caribbean memory studies. The third part delves into the ways in which cultural practices have created, transformed and inscribed memories in the public sphere.
Our goal is to raise awareness about the labors of memory in Latin America and the Caribbean as a response to real and urgent human needs that are still relevant today.
