Patients who have peptic ulcers are observed to have a strong and consistent excess risk of suicide, according to this review. The literature presented in this ebook indicates that peptic ulcers are associated with many mental disorders which may be linked to suicidal behaviors. Clinicians are urged to review suicide prevention strategies. Practical recommendations for caregivers are provided.
