Age may bring wisdom and maturity to some, but to the residents of Paradise Gardens, whose future was yesterday, add quirkiness, lack of inhibition, and the time needed to get into trouble...plenty. TILLIE TUTWEILLER, GERTIE GOTTFRIED, and BERTHA BUBBENACKER, feisty and fearless, find adventure and strive to save GWEN from JACK, her next door neighbor. BRUCE and ETHEL, after forty years of marriage, realize they never loved each other. Then MARIYN comes on the scene. Heshie becomes a widower and the target for the singles, who pursue him and promise him paradise in Paradise Gardens. Emotions ramp up when a Category 5 hurricane makes a direct hit on the community. Tillie, Gertie, and Bertha move to an independent living facility called Sunnyside Gardens, where they confront the Chief Administrator, Andrew Lutz, the Putz, who has one failing, he hates old people.
