Mastering the Shakespeare Audition combines contemporary research on imagination, memory, and performance to offer a practical, start to finish approach to preparing the Shakespeare audition. This second edition has a wealth of new material, including greater emphasis on: finding the right text for you strengthening your imagined world and visualising that world with more clarity how to work with your memory - not against it - by understanding how we store and retrieve text under pressure. Through a streamlined preparation process, you'll learn how to build a reliable, robust relationship with the language and your imagination so that you can walk into the room with confidence. Updated throughout, it also reflects the evolving landscape of contemporary casting, acknowledging diversity and the wider range of roles and material now available to actors. The author's extensive experience is supplemented by valuable advice from interviews with industry professionals, such as casting directors and voice coaches working at key Shakespeare-focused theatre companies, such as the RSC and Shakespeare's Globe.
