From the pages of their diaries, the authors describe for us, in vivid and colorful detail, what it is like to live in their remote, unspoiled, wild African bush camp in the Kafue National Park of Zambia. It is here that they share their daily lives with an incredible variety of animals, from the tiny elephant shrew to the huge elephant, the antelope, the crocodiles and hippo who dwell in the adjacent rivers, the amazing birdlife, the mice and the lizards, the buffalo, the leopards and the lions; especially the lions. For, as Chris McBride observes, "If there are lions present, there is excitement. If there is this excitement, everything else becomes exciting as well. Even bird watching is of much greater interest in lion country... "If you hear one male roaring, something is the matter; some young males have been killed or have died along the way...But if there are two or more, everything is fine."
