It is, roughly speaking, progressive; and it stops at 'the point where the Passages for Unseen Translation, selected by Mr. A. M. Cook and myself, begins. In quest of easy passages I have ranged over a wide field of Latin, and have not feared to draw on the Vulgate and Prudentius. Through the first hundred exercises the 'longs' are marked, in order that these passages may be a lesson in reading as'well as in translation, and some unimportant alterations have been made in the text in some cases, in order to render the passage more suitable.
