Make no mistake: this book holds secrets. Lake of the Cedars: Story of a Family on Fire for Generations spans nearly a century, from the point that two families, one from Germany and one from England, arrive at Ellis Island in 1920 through to 2009, when author Patricia Spencer began taking her aunt's advice to write about their family. Along the way, Lake of the Cedars reveals unexpected births and deaths, abuse and the will to survive. Lake of the Cedars also holds hope and redemption. Knowing family history is truly a form of therapy. It allows joy, pain, love, and faith to come through, touching generations now and to come. Family history helps us find our way through to the future and reminds us never to give up, knowing God will take care of us.
