The first edition of McLaughlin's text provided a concise and reasonably priced primary text for the Labor Economics course. With its more frequent stop and practice points for students and its integration of empirical data into the narrative, many adopters have found it to suit their method ofteaching nicely. The book focuses on core principles, keeping the economic models as simple as possible and embedding the applications in the main narrative - not in boxed asides.
