The author was born in 1947 on a small farm not far from Rio, IL. He grew up in the 1950s in a place of innocence, safety, and joyful expectations of living in the USA. Stories about baseball, bicycles, go-karts, fishing, and family are told through the eyes of a child. As a teenage baby boomer in the 60's he absolutely loved cars, cruising, music, and friends. The unbelievable story of "Ole Blue," his high school car, shows how it came back into his life on three different occasions. He spent three years in the Army during the Vietnam War. He reminds us of the cost of freedom and to never forget those who paid the price.
